Here is an opportunity for a type of gardening that very few of us have probably ever done! How often do you get the chance to create a wetland? Well you can volunteer and help Colorado Springs Utilities improve Fountain Creek by planting trees and shrubs to create a stable wetland on Saturday, September 24. The volunteer event runs from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. A bit more info and contact information can be found on the project’s flyer. Fountain Creek Wetland Volunteer Flyer

Carey, do you know where along Fountain Creek they are doing this?

It will be down near Clear Springs Ranch (if that means anything to you). It’s down close to where the Pikes Peak International Raceway is (but on the other side of the interstate, of course). I only know this because I went on the Col Springs Utilites Fall Water Tour last week and we stopped off at the site. I think they are doing this as mitigation for wetlands they’ll be disturbing in other places as they construct the Southern Delivery System. Later they will also do work on the sites they do disturb as well.
